Electronics Category Manager (APAC)

Location: Remote in Penang and surrounding areas, with required work from the Johor office for five days per month. Additional business travel may be required.

What you will do

• Develop and execute APAC sourcing and category strategies for electronic components and direct materials.
• Lead sourcing across semiconductors, PCB/PCBA, connectors, passive and electromechanical components, and EMS.
• Identify, evaluate, qualify, and onboard suppliers while building supplier relationship management strategies.
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Planning teams in a matrixed environment.
• Lead supplier selection, negotiations, commercial agreements, capacity commitments, and performance improvements.
• Improve total cost of ownership, lead times, supply continuity, risk management, and speed to market.

Requirements

• Experience in direct sourcing, procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing within the electronics industry.
• Strong knowledge of electronic components, semiconductors, EMS, PCB/PCBA, connectors, electromechanical components, or passive components.
• Experience managing APAC suppliers and regional sourcing activities.
• Understanding of electronics supply chains, supplier landscapes, and manufacturing environments.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and cultural awareness skills.
• Experience with supplier development, supplier performance management, and supply-chain risk mitigation.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, or a related discipline.
• APICS or MCIPS certification, or progress toward certification.
• Experience in global manufacturing or matrix organisations.
• Experience with SRM frameworks, low-cost country sourcing, supplier consolidation, and TCO optimisation.
• Knowledge of semiconductor and electronic component market dynamics across Asia-Pacific.
