Assistant Manager Eliot/Kirkland (Hospitality)

Location: Cambridge, United States; all duties must be performed at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location.

What you will do

• Support the management of a residential dining operation and deliver a welcoming hospitality experience.
• Lead, assign, coach, and evaluate hourly and temporary service staff.
• Maintain food quality, sanitation, safety, equipment, facilities, inventory, and cost-control standards.
• Monitor FoodPro menus and inventory, conduct weekly audits, and support loss prevention.
• Process Kronos timecards and absence requests and fill open shifts in accordance with union policies.
• Support customer service, catered events, specialty diets, and nutritional needs while maintaining relationships with students, faculty, guests, and union representatives.

Requirements

• At least two years of relevant work experience, including two to three years of food service management experience.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or a related field is preferred.
• Experience with financial and human resources management in a food industry environment.
• Experience managing in a unionized environment, with knowledge of Kronos or a similar timekeeping system; FoodPro knowledge is also required for the role.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts, with extended standing, walking, and lifting of approximately 20 to 30 pounds.

• Experience with the sale and execution of catered events.
• Passion for food and knowledge of current food trends.
• Ability to become ServSafe Certified within six months of employment.
