Manager Software Engineering (Java)

Location: Chicago, IL, United States; onsite full-time role. Applicants must already be authorized to work in the U.S. without employment-based visa sponsorship.

Salary: $114,500–$194,700 USD base pay, with potential discretionary bonus and equity component.

What you will do

• Lead application service delivery, production support, and implementation for client-facing wealth management systems.
• Drive change, incident, problem management, project releases, and production issue resolution.
• Improve application stability, availability, cost efficiency, productivity, and operational metrics.
• Provide technical leadership and consulting on system designs, enhancements, delivery methodologies, and operational processes.
• Coordinate onsite and offshore technology partners, vendors, consultants, business stakeholders, and global support teams.
• Manage complex cross-functional initiatives, project planning, risk controls, compliance, vendor activities, and team development.

Requirements

• 8–12+ years of experience in application development and/or application support using modern frameworks and architectures.
• Experience supporting business applications built with Java and database technologies.
• Hands-on or working knowledge of Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, React, Node, JavaScript, RESTful interfaces, Oracle PL/SQL, Git, Gradle, Maven, NPM, HTML, and CSS.
• Knowledge of ITIL, Agile or XP project environments, secure software development lifecycle practices, and application design.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, vendor management, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• U.S. work authorization is required; employment-based visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of DevOps and/or Site Reliability Engineering practices.
• Experience in wealth management, capital markets, financial services, or other regulated environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Relevant industry qualifications or certifications.
