Manager (Software Engineering)

Location: Foster City, California, United States; at least 3 days per week in the office

Salary: $153,700–$246,200 USD per year, with potential bonus, equity, and sales incentive payments where applicable.

What you will do

• Oversee application development deliverables, including unit design, coding, testing, integration, deployment, and change management.
• Lead agile development and delivery across system design, release readiness, production deployments, and multiple stakeholder dependencies.
• Collaborate with technical leads, project managers, product owners, analysts, developers, QA engineers, and operations teams to define requirements and solution approaches.
• Support database modeling, software configuration, source code control, defect resolution, documentation, and secure software development practices.
• Build and maintain working relationships with geographically distributed engineering and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience and advanced-degree pathways; alternatively, 8+ years of relevant experience.
• At least 2 years of direct management experience with software engineering teams, including coaching, performance management, career development, hiring, and team growth.
• Experience with full-stack, n-tier application development using Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, microservices, and REST/gRPC APIs.
• Experience building and operating large-scale cloud-native platforms on Google Cloud Platform.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, GCP data services, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes/GKE, cloud networking, IAM, security, infrastructure as code, observability, and SRE practices.
• Experience delivering software in regulated or high-compliance environments such as PCI or SOC 2.

Nice to have

• Exposure to FinOps and cloud cost optimization.
• GCP certification such as Professional Cloud Architect or Professional Cloud Developer.
• Experience with multi-region, active-active, high-throughput, streaming, or event-driven platforms.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications or migrating workloads to GCP.
