Instrumentation and Controls Specialist (PLC)

Location: York, Pennsylvania, USA; onsite weekend night shift. Schedule: Friday and Monday, 9:30 p.m.–6:00 a.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 5:30 p.m.–5:30 a.m. Shift flexibility may be required for projects, installations, and plant needs.

Salary: $45.62 per hour base pay plus $2.00 per hour shift differential.

What you will do

• Support the design, modification, assembly, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of PLC-based control systems and instrumentation.
• Lead plant automation troubleshooting and improve packaging and processing equipment control logic to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
• Provide instrumentation and controls support for capital projects, automation infrastructure, maintenance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with instrument calibration, testing, preventive maintenance, and verification of plant-wide controls.
• Collaborate with electricians, maintenance mechanics, and line mechanics on instrumentation, controls, and electrical issues.
• Promote plant safety, quality, food safety, and compliance with local and corporate procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3–5 years of controls, instrumentation, or electrical experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Formal training in control systems and instrumentation, or equivalent work experience.
• Clear verbal and written English communication is required.
• Experience with PLC-based control systems, Allen Bradley controls, AC and motor controls, process sensors, calibration, and instrumentation testing.
• Knowledge of NEC and UL standards; ability to interpret and prepare control schematics, ladder logic diagrams, wiring schematics, P&IDs, and PFDs.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree or vocational certificate.
• Consumer packaged goods or FDA-regulated manufacturing experience.
• Working knowledge of SAP Maintenance Module and AutoCAD.
