Senior Buyer (Manufacturing)

Location: Dubuque, Iowa, United States; full-time, office-based role with regular interaction with manufacturing operations and suppliers.

What you will do

• Develop and execute supplier strategies covering cost, capacity, quality, service, and supply continuity.
• Lead supplier negotiations, long-term agreements, pricing strategies, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Manage supplier performance through scorecards, reviews, and corrective action plans.
• Assess and mitigate supply chain risks, including capacity constraints, single-source dependencies, and material availability.
• Analyze demand, inventory, safety stock, service levels, and inventory turns.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Finance on production, sourcing, and new product development requirements.
• Improve procurement, planning, and ERP/MRP processes, including automation, data accuracy, and efficiency.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to Buyer/Planner roles.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, business, operations management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least five years of progressive purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience in manufacturing.
• Strong strategic sourcing, supplier negotiation, data analysis, communication, influence, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems; JD Edwards is preferred, and advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency is required.
• Ability to meet customer site access and safety requirements, pass a background check, and comply with company motor vehicle standards when applicable.
• Eligibility to work in the United States is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with complex or configurable manufactured products.
• Experience leading cost reduction or value engineering initiatives.
• Experience with Supplier EDI, Spendonomics, Procurable, Oracle, or JD Edwards.
• APICS CPIM or CSCP, CPSM, or a similar certification.
• Experience mentoring or leading others without direct supervisory responsibility.
