Purchasing Manager - Buyers (Manufacturing)

Location: Houston, TX (TAS-Cullen HQ). Full-time position with 80%–95% desk-based work in an indoor manufacturing environment.

What you will do

• Lead and directly supervise Buyers, including goal setting, performance tracking, and accountability.
• Manage sourcing, procurement, supplier performance, cost management, and procurement support for project schedules.
• Oversee RFQs, quotations, purchase orders, procurement planning, and delivery scheduling.
• Coordinate procurement priorities with Engineering, Product Management, Planning, Manufacturing, Accounting, and Project teams.
• Drive procurement process improvements, standardization, supplier diversification, and risk mitigation.
• Support supplier qualification, sourcing strategy, contract negotiations, commercial issue resolution, and supplier performance management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, or extensive relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• At least 5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment, including at least 2 years as a Buyer.
• At least 2 years of leadership experience managing procurement or supply chain personnel.
• Experience in engineer-to-order or make-to-order manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, Lean concepts, strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and procurement planning.
• Strong communication, decision-making, problem-solving, collaboration, and Microsoft Office skills.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of procurement leadership experience with direct people management responsibility.
• Lean practitioner experience.
• ISO-certified manufacturing experience.
• APICS, CPM, or CPSM certification.
