TL;DR
Legal Counsel (Retail): Reviewing, negotiating, drafting, and advising on commercial, supplier, ecommerce, marketing, licensing, technology, outsourcing, finance, and M&A agreements with an accent on pragmatic commercial advice and regulatory compliance. Focus on managing disputes and external counsel, supporting digital marketing and customer complaints, coordinating due diligence and transactions, and supervising junior legal team members.
Location: Shirebrook HQ, Meadow Ln, Shirebrook, Mansfield, UK; onsite five days a week

What you will do
- Review, negotiate, draft, and advise on supplier, commercial, supply chain, concession, partnership, franchising, licensing, technology, outsourcing, and finance contracts.
- Handle commercial disputes, litigation, customer complaints, small claims, and regulatory matters with bodies including the ICO, ASA, and Trading Standards.
- Advise marketing and ecommerce teams on CAP Code compliance, digital marketing, website operations, promotions, competitions, packaging, and associated terms and conditions.
- Manage intellectual property matters, including own-brand and third-party licensing.
- Support M&A transactions through due diligence, SPA/APAs, ancillary documents, coordination, and post-completion work.
- Manage external lawyers, support senior legal team members, and supervise junior colleagues.
Requirements
- Strong experience in commercial contract negotiation.
- Minimum three years of post-qualification legal experience.
- Ability to provide commercially focused and pragmatic legal advice in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across all organizational levels.
- Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively with internal teams.
- Ability to work onsite at the Shirebrook HQ five days a week.
