TL;DR
Bindery Operator (Cutter, Folder, Die Cutter, Stitcher) (Print and Bindery Manufacturing): Operating and adjusting bindery and finishing equipment to produce books, catalogs, manuals, directories, magazines, and other printed products with an accent on machine setup, coordinated finishing operations, and dimensional accuracy. Focus on inspecting equipment, refining adjustments for different paper stocks, directing production crews, and monitoring quality, output, and productivity.

Location: West Bend, Wisconsin, United States. Full-time, onsite role on the 3rd shift, Monday–Thursday, 7:00 PM–5:00 AM.

Compensation: $21.00–$26.26 per hour, plus a $2 per hour 3rd-shift differential.

What you will do

  • Set up, adjust, and operate auxiliary and automatic bindery machines, including cutters, folders, collators, stitchers, drills, binders, and gluing equipment.
  • Operate multifunctional finishing systems that process printed sheets into books, catalogs, manuals, directories, magazines, and other completed products.
  • Adjust and coordinate multiple machine stations, including adhesive binding processes such as milling, roughening, gluing, covering, and stacking.
  • Inspect equipment for safety issues and maintain operating accuracy.
  • Direct the production crew through all manufacturing activities.
  • Monitor product quality, output, and productivity.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret work orders and bindery specifications.
  • Ability to calculate distances, clearances, and fits when combining machines.
  • Experience using standard and specialized tools to adjust and maintain bindery equipment.
  • Knowledge of automatic binders, collators, folding units, cutters, and combined finishing systems.
  • Knowledge of setup procedures, operating requirements, capabilities, and limitations of bindery machines.
  • Knowledge of coated and uncoated paper stocks and the ability to adjust machines for paper weight, color, machinability, and quality.
