Software Engineer SME (AWS)

What you will do

• Build and operate backend services, APIs, microservices, and platform-level systems in Linux environments.
• Design and scale core platform components and distributed systems.
• Deploy and operate cloud-based services in AWS and containerized runtimes.
• Engineer SQL databases and support data-intensive application patterns.
• Improve system reliability, performance, monitoring, and optimization.
• Collaborate with developers, data engineers, and platform teams to support data science, analytics, and AI/ML workloads.

Requirements

• US citizenship and an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph are required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience building and operating software applications or platform systems.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Ansible or Python, PostgreSQL/MySQL/MariaDB, Linux, and AWS.
• Experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, distributed system design, SQL databases, cloud deployments, containers, Git workflows, testing, and secure coding.

Nice to have

• Experience with Hadoop, Spark, Yarn, Hive, or Trino.
• Knowledge of RBAC and ABAC access-control models and entitlement-management systems.
• Experience supporting large-scale, multitenant, or highly available platforms.
• Experience hardening systems for strict accreditation and security-compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with Ansible.
