TL;DR
Licensed School Social Worker/Counselor - LCSW or LPC (Resume Drop) (School-based mental health): Delivering tiered social-emotional and mental health services for KIPP students with an accent on counseling, case management, crisis response, and family partnerships. Focus on coordinating IEP/504 and community services, removing attendance and basic-needs barriers, monitoring outcomes, and maintaining legally compliant documentation.

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. 100% on-site; remote work is not available. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

What you will do

  • Deliver evidence-based social-emotional and mental health services across MTSS Tiers 1–3 through classroom lessons, groups, and short-term individual counseling.
  • Manage student cases, referrals, consents, progress notes, service logs, and documentation aligned with FERPA, HIPAA, and applicable regulations.
  • Participate in IEP and Section 504 processes and coordinate outside evaluations and services.
  • Lead or support crisis response, risk screenings, safety planning, re-entry meetings, de-escalation, and mandated reporting.
  • Partner with attendance, behavior, academic, operations, and student-support teams to reduce absenteeism and support reintegration.
  • Build family and community partnerships, connect families with food, housing, medical, behavioral-health, and transportation resources, and monitor outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited program.
  • State licensure such as LCSW, LPC, or a state-approved equivalent; eligibility for supervision is acceptable when not independently licensed.
  • School-based or youth mental health experience with Tier 2/3 interventions, crisis response, and case management.
  • Working knowledge of MTSS, trauma-informed practices, restorative approaches, child welfare, and mandated reporting.
  • Familiarity with special education and Section 504 processes, screeners, progress monitoring, SIS/SEIS platforms, and professional documentation.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States for any employer is required.
