Social Worker (Temporary)

Location: Rochester, New York, USA; school-based onsite role

Compensation: $19.96–$26.10 per hour; most qualified candidates receive $19.96–$21.19 per hour.

What you will do

• Provide crisis intervention, behavior management, and individual or group counseling to students and families.
• Develop and implement social-emotional development and intervention curricula.
• Conduct needs assessments and manage referrals to social services and special education services.
• Identify, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate internal and external resources for students and families.
• Organize family meetings, home visits, workshops, family nights, and other community-building activities.
• Supervise students, participate in school activities and staff development, and collaborate with teachers and school leaders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• Demonstrated achievement, self-motivation, teamwork, and commitment to improving students’ lives.
• Experience working with urban schools is highly preferred.
• Valid state certification is helpful but not required for this location; state social worker certification must be pursued on a timeline set by the Principal.
• Alignment with Uncommon’s educational philosophy and core values is required.
• NYC applicants must hold New York State certification as a School Counselor, LMSW, or LCSW to provide IEP-mandated services.
