Machinist (Aerospace)

Location: Moorpark, California, United States; onsite, 1st or 2nd shift

Salary: $60,000–$90,000 per year

What you will do

• Set up and operate manual or CNC mills and lathes to fabricate precision-machined parts from work orders, routers, and blueprints.
• Evaluate engineering drawings and develop machining strategies, tooling, work holders, and fixtures.
• Select cutting tools, feeds, speeds, offsets, and other parameters for aerospace materials including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, titanium, and plastics.
• Verify parts using precision measuring and inspection equipment, applying GD&T and quality standards.
• Machine prototype hardware with limited supervision, re-machine parts when required, and troubleshoot production issues on the shop floor.
• Deburr parts and perform other related machining duties as needed.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience setting up and operating manual mills and lathes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Experience machining titanium, stainless steel, aluminum, plastics, and other standard aerospace materials.
• Knowledge of GD&T and precision inspection tools.
• High school education or equivalent, strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to communicate technical instructions with engineering.
• Must meet all ITAR and BATFE background requirements.

Nice to have

• CNC machining experience.
• ESPRIT or Mastercam programming software experience.
• Previous lead experience.
