Machinist III (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite in Torrance, California, 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Salary: $35.00–$45.00 per hour

What you will do

• Set up and operate multiple manual and CNC machines to produce precision production hardware.
• Plan machining sequences, select or improve tooling, and complete setups and changeovers.
• Perform gear shaping, hobbing, skiving, milling, turning, drilling, grinding, honing, and related operations.
• Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments, comparator charts, GD&T blueprints, and first-piece and in-process checks.
• Edit G-code and M-code, perform NC/CNC block checks, and assist programming teams with machine-control errors.
• Optimize cell workflows, troubleshoot complex machining issues, mentor junior operators, and lead 5S/Kaizen improvements.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of shaping machining experience, including Gleason shapers, hobbing, or gear-cutting machines.
• Complete understanding of gear making, shaping, and skiving, including internal and external gears and splines.
• Experience measuring gear ID/OD and reading CMM reports with gear measurements.
• Ability to interpret complex GD&T symbols, gear data charts, blueprints, and operation sheets.
• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, and other shop precision measuring instruments, plus practical shop mathematics, trigonometry, and gear geometry.
• Ability to understand and apply work instructions and training in English is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Gleason Shaper P500 or GP300, Gleason Hobbing Machine H400, Okuma 5-axis machining centers, multi-tasking lathes, Swiss-style lathes, or automated machining cells.
• High school diploma or GED.
