Intermediate Mechanical Designer (HVAC/Plumbing/Fire Protection)

Location: Victoria, British Columbia, Canada — 1515 Douglas Street

Salary: CAD 70,000–85,000 annually

What you will do

• Create mechanical designs and drafting deliverables using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection layouts with limited supervision.
• Set up heating and cooling load calculation files, including Carrier HAP inputs for senior review.
• Prepare preliminary motor lists, equipment selections, reports, and design documentation.
• Review and process shop drawings with senior staff and maintain project design files.
• Support client meetings, site surveys, stakeholder relationships, and training for junior staff.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of AutoCAD experience, combining academic and professional experience.
• At least 2 years of design experience with HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for different building types.
• Ability to read architectural, structural, and electrical drawings with minimal supervision.
• Ability to apply plumbing, building, and sprinkler code requirements, including NFPA, BCBC, and the BC Plumbing Code.
• Mechanical Engineering university degree or college diploma is an asset.

Nice to have

• Revit MEP experience.
• Knowledge of energy modeling and calculations.
• EIT classification.
