NICX Technician (Remote)

Location: Remote with regular travel to job sites in the United States; listed location: San Diego, CA

What you will do

• Interpret and implement site-specific commissioning plans and schedules.
• Coordinate commissioning activities with engineering, construction, quality assurance, and SCADA project teams.
• Perform pre-commissioning and commissioning tests for fiber, Ethernet, serial communications, and SCADA systems.
• Troubleshoot communications and SCADA issues and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare detailed commissioning reports covering test results, issues, and resolutions.
• Support safety tagging, lockout, work permit, quality, and safe-work programs at project sites.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of commissioning experience on utility-scale solar power projects.
• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, electrical infrastructure, networking, and communications systems.
• Experience with SCADA, fiber, Ethernet, and serial communications such as Modbus and DNP.
• Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of applicable industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations, including NFPA, NEC, NETA, and IEEE standards.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with NERC guidelines and ISO/TSO requirements.
• Experience with DCS/SCADA control systems and mechanical or solid-state relaying systems.
• Understanding of commercial power plant performance.
