Electrical Engineer (Utility Scale Solar)

Location: Remote or onsite in Lakewood, Colorado. Field work and 15–25% travel may be required.

Salary: $90,000–$130,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design utility-scale photovoltaic electrical power systems, including string sizing, array layouts, tracker power and communications, one-line diagrams, wiring, balance-of-system equipment, conduit, cable routing, and grounding.
• Build computer-based models and perform power system studies covering short circuit, load flow, relay coordination, arc flash, collection system grounding, and harmonic analysis.
• Review equipment data sheets, manuals, and testing reports for design approvals.
• Prepare cost estimates, budget reports, engineering studies, project schedules, and other project documentation.
• Provide field assistance, troubleshooting, observation reports, and quality verification for design, drafting, and field service work.
• Coordinate with integrated design teams and clients to deliver assignments on schedule and within budget.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution; an electric power focus is preferred.
• 3–6+ years of relevant engineering or field experience.
• Knowledge of medium- and low-voltage distribution, switchgear, motor control centers, and industrial instrumentation and controls.
• Experience with AutoCAD.
• Effective written and oral communication, interpersonal, and people skills.
• Full-time authorization to work in the United States is required.

Nice to have

• FE or PE licensure.
• Experience with EasyPower, ETAP, SKM, CYMCAP, PVsyst, or other PV software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
