Critical Operations Technician (Data Center): Operating and maintaining electrical, mechanical, fire life safety, and monitoring systems for a mission-critical data center campus with an accent on chilled water, HVAC, UPS, power distribution, and preventive maintenance. Focus on preventing customer-impacting outages, responding to abnormal conditions, improving operational efficiency, and coordinating maintenance and power upgrades.
Location: Santa Teresa, New Mexico, United States. On-site, full-time role with variable hours, including weekends, holidays, late nights, and on-call support.
Compensation: $40.00–$53.00 per hour, depending on qualifications for Critical Operations Technician I, II, or III.

What you will do
- Operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, building monitoring, control, and fire life safety systems.
- Manage chilled water, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH, chillers, humidification, fan wall, UPS, PDU, RPP, switchgear, generator, ATS, STS, and related systems.
- Respond to abnormal conditions and incidents, escalate issues, write follow-up reports, and help prevent unplanned customer-impacting outages.
- Complete preventive and predictive maintenance with the Critical Operations Manager and maintain discrepancy records in the CMMS.
- Track operational trends, analyze efficiency, recommend technologies, and support power installations and upgrades.
- Conduct facility and security tours, manage assets and consumables, label equipment, develop procedures, and provide customer support.
Requirements
- Must be eligible to work in the United States and pass a comprehensive background screening.
- High school diploma or equivalent and 3–5 years of experience in a data center or related mission-critical operations role.
- Strong understanding of data center electrical and mechanical systems, including UPS, transformers, PDUs, RPPs, chillers, CRAH, CRAC, STS, ATS, and pre-action systems.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, building codes, and fire life safety compliance.
- Experience with data center trending and analysis, PC-based site monitoring systems, Microsoft Office, and database software.
- Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment, lift or move up to 25 pounds, and support variable schedules and on-call duties.
Nice to have
- United States Navy Nuclear Engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
