Critical Environments Operator IV (Data Center Facilities)

Location: Sterling, Virginia, United States. Hybrid arrangement with facility-based rotating shifts, on-call responsibilities, and remote work supported two days per week where business needs permit.

What you will do

• Operate and maintain critical electrical, mechanical, HVAC/R, and building systems in a 24/7/365 data center environment.
• Manage preventive and corrective maintenance activities through CMMS and work order processes.
• Follow approved SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, and MMRs while performing critical switching, LOTO, alarm response, troubleshooting, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate contractors, vendors, and service providers during maintenance projects, repairs, and system upgrades.
• Support root cause analysis, capacity planning, facility reporting, and KPI tracking.
• Maintain compliance with safety, EHS, customer, environmental, regulatory, and maintenance standards.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in Tier II, Tier III, or Tier IV data centers, building engineering, or critical facility operations and maintenance.
• Associate degree in electrical, mechanical, HVAC/R technology, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Journeyman-level knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC/R systems.
• Experience with CMMS platforms, work order management, troubleshooting, and contractor or vendor coordination.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Availability for rotating day, night, weekend, holiday, and overtime shifts, on-call rotation, emergency response, and travel up to 25%.

Nice to have

• HVAC, Journeyman Electrician, or Master Electrician certification.
• Experience with capacity planning, KPI reporting, and critical facility performance metrics.
• Knowledge of Visio, AutoCAD, building automation systems, and data center monitoring systems.
