Welder Fitter - 2nd & 3rd Shift (MIG Welding)

Location: Houston, TX, United States. Workplace type: Onsite. Shifts: 2nd shift, 2:30pm–1:00am; 3rd shift, 7:30pm–6:00am.

Salary: $22.00–$24.00 per hour

What you will do

• Perform fitting, tacking, and MIG welding of carbon-steel parts in vee-groove and full-penetration bevel joints.
• Carry out torch and plasma cutting, deburring, grinding, blasting, and painting as required.
• Read weld data sheets, procedures, operation travelers, prints, and oral instructions.
• Prepare parts, fixtures, and weld areas; verify dimensions and weld parameters before and during welding.
• Inspect welds, repair defective parts, and ensure proper penetration without burn-through, cracks, porosity, or excessive bead.
• Move materials with cranes, dollies, carts, and hoists while maintaining equipment, tooling, and a safe work area.

Requirements

• Must be qualified for 2G and 2F welding.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to use measuring tapes, verniers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring equipment.
• Ability to become certified to operate a forklift and use hoists for heavy parts.
• General computer skills.
• Ability to follow operating procedures and identify workplace safety hazards.
