Sr. Systems Engineer (Fuel Cell)

Location: Albany, NY, United States; full-time onsite role

What you will do

• Develop system concepts, controls strategies, architectures, and design targets for fuel cell product development, cost reduction, and reliability improvement programs.
• Design and improve control algorithms and state machines to maximize fuel cell stack life and performance.
• Verify controls software, perform system-level testing, and analyze fuel cell system data.
• Develop systems that conform to applicable North American and European codes, standards, and industrial and transportation requirements.
• Lead FMEA, functional safety analysis, hazard analysis, and root cause analysis studies.
• Gather and document requirements while collaborating with customers, external organizations, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM; mechanical, electrical, chemical, or systems engineering is preferred.
• Seven years of related experience in fuel cells, automotive, electrochemical systems, or hybrid powertrains.
• Strong systems-thinking, analytical, creative problem-solving, communication, project-management, and multitasking abilities.
• Working knowledge of MATLAB, LabVIEW, Microsoft Office, Visio, and Outlook.
• Understanding of coding languages such as Python, C, and C++.
• Experience with data acquisition tools, certification, and performance characterization for North American and European markets is preferred.
