Location: Palo Alto, United States; onsite attendance required five days per week. After fully ramping up and aligning with the manager, limited flexibility may allow remote work one day per week based on business and team needs.
Salary: $220,000–$260,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

What you will do
- Design and develop battery management system control algorithms for thermal management, charging, and power distribution.
- Develop and validate physics-based or data-based battery state estimation algorithms, including SOC, SOH, and SOF.
- Implement battery protection strategies covering overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, cell balancing, and thermal limits.
- Build and validate MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow models for control development and verification.
- Generate production-quality embedded code and support MIL, SIL, and HIL testing for microcontroller deployment.
- Integrate BMS algorithms into vehicle system architecture and collaborate with Systems, EE, Battery Cell Engineering, and Firmware teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of battery systems, lithium-ion chemistries, degradation mechanisms, SOC/SOH estimation, and cell balancing.
- Knowledge of battery sensing, high-voltage systems, BMS architecture, control theory, and state estimation methods such as Kalman filtering.
- Familiarity with BMS functional safety standards, including ISO 26262.
- Strong experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, model-based development, and embedded code generation using Simulink Coder or Embedded Coder.
- Experience with C/C++ for embedded systems and Vector tools including CANalyzer, CANape, or CANoe.
