Principal, Electrical (P.Eng) (Sustainable Building Engineering)

Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Hybrid and remote work opportunities are available.

Salary: CAD 175,000–200,000 annually, plus performance incentives.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and manage a growing team of electrical engineers and designers.
• Set team performance plans, KPIs, budgets, revenue targets, and labour forecasts.
• Serve as principal liaison for key clients, develop new opportunities, and lead contract negotiations.
• Oversee technical quality and delivery for electrical systems in institutional and healthcare projects.
• Guide procurement, cost management, construction contract administration, and field reviews.
• Promote smart building systems, energy optimization, sustainability, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Requirements

• 15+ years of electrical design experience, including major institutional and healthcare projects.
• Proven team leadership experience with at least five direct reports.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer license (P.Eng) in Alberta is required.
• Experience with telecommunications, security systems, and emerging smart building technologies.
• Strong community or industry presence through conferences, white papers, or pro bono leadership.

Nice to have

• LEED AP certification.
• Passive House certification.
