Director of Data Strategy (Microsoft Fabric)

Location: Sacramento, California, United States; hybrid workplace with work from home available up to 2 days per week.

Salary: $212,800–$228,400 per year.

What you will do

• Build and execute the enterprise data strategy aligned with business priorities and long-term objectives.
• Establish and chair the Enterprise Data Governance Committee, defining policies for stewardship, metadata, lineage, quality, privacy, security, and retention.
• Partner with Claims, Underwriting, Actuarial, Finance, HR, Marketing, Operations, Analytics, and IT to create prioritized data roadmaps.
• Oversee a multiyear program covering data discovery, cataloging, architecture modernization, integration improvements, and data quality.
• Define strategies for inbound and outbound data feeds, operational data requests, and analytical and AI data needs.
• Measure initiative impact, communicate outcomes to the Executive team, and mentor data stewards and program leads.

Requirements

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future employment visa sponsorship.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Analytics, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in data strategy, analytics, governance, or data management.
• Practical experience working inside the Microsoft Fabric workspace and using Snowflake capabilities for scalable, cost-optimized data strategies.
• Experience with enterprise source systems, operational data feeds, customer-facing platforms, and large-scale policy, claims, CRM, or workflow systems.
• Proven experience leading enterprise data governance programs and influencing executive stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience in the insurance industry.
• Master's or advanced degree.
• Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate, Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer Associate, SnowPro Core, CDMP, or CIMP certification.
