Controls Engineer (PLC/SCADA): Supporting the construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of BMS and EPMS controls systems for mission-critical data center infrastructure with an accent on PLC-based automation, Ignition SCADA, mechanical systems, and electrical monitoring. Focus on troubleshooting complex controls integrations, validating system performance, supporting operational readiness, and securing OT connectivity across a large campus.
Location: Santa Teresa, New Mexico; on-site. Travel up to 15% domestically. Must be eligible to work in the United States and pass comprehensive background screening.
Salary: $160,000–$195,000 annually with 10% bonus potential. A separate compensation range of $133,000–$154,000 is also listed.

What you will do
- Support the implementation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and optimization of PLC-based controls across critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Ignition SCADA front-end systems, including tags, alarms, graphics, historians, reporting, scripting, and integrations.
- Support MQTT data movement, databases, system integrations, and connectivity for OT systems, PLCs, SCADA servers, field devices, and monitoring platforms.
- Troubleshoot controls events involving building automation, PLC, SCADA, EPMS, sensors, actuators, meters, networks, and databases; perform root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Validate power quality meters, sequences, alarms, trends, data integrity, system performance, and turnover documentation with commissioning agents, contractors, vendors, and engineering teams.
- Support operational readiness, site acceptance testing, integrated systems testing, technical training, standards development, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Controls, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience with building automation, industrial controls, SCADA, PLCs, EPMS, or mission-critical facility control systems.
- Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, including logic review, troubleshooting, field validation, and supervisory system integration.
- Experience with Ignition SCADA, including tag structures, alarm configuration, graphics, historian functions, scripting, reporting, and integration.
- Strong understanding of chilled water systems, chiller plants, pumping systems, heat rejection, hydronic loops, electrical monitoring, and power quality meters.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex controls issues and support off-hours troubleshooting, maintenance windows, emergency response, and critical operational events.
Nice to have
- Experience with hyperscale, semiconductor, industrial, utility, or other large-scale mission-critical campuses.
- Ignition certification or advanced Ignition development experience.
- Experience with enterprise MQTT brokers, SEL power quality meters and relays, and PostgreSQL databases.
- Knowledge of OT cybersecurity, network segmentation, authentication, certificate management, and secure access practices.
