Senior SCADA Engineer (Ignition SCADA)

What you will do

• Lead the development, implementation, management, and roadmap planning of SCADA systems for Gigafactory battery manufacturing.
• Design and maintain standardized HMI screens and Ignition SCADA applications for mixing, coating, calendaring, slitting, assembly, formation, and end-of-line operations.
• Integrate SCADA with PLCs, field devices, databases, quality and vision systems, Palantir Foundry, event streaming, REST, MQTT, and UNS interfaces.
• Develop reusable templates, UDTs, architecture documentation, HMI standards, SOPs, and user guides.
• Collaborate with Controls, MES, IT, and Process Engineering teams on manufacturing requirements, change management, testing, validation, and deployment.
• Provide technical leadership, conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and troubleshoot production issues through root cause analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and supporting SCADA/HMI systems in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Strong experience with Ignition SCADA, PLC integration, Python scripting, high-availability systems, and manufacturing databases.
• Advanced knowledge of Modbus, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, MQTT, OPC UA, PostgreSQL, SQL, ISA standards, and compliance.
• Understanding of electrical hardware, drawings, sequence control, software design, and high-volume manufacturing.
• Working-level English proficiency is required, and candidates must have valid authorization to work in the United States without restriction.

Nice to have

• Experience with Keyence or Cognex vision systems and Mitsubishi or Omron PLCs.
• Knowledge of ISA-88 physical models and PackML.
• Knowledge of American environmental laws and UL requirements.
