SCADA Engineer I

Location: Onsite in Sparks, Nevada, United States. Valid authorization to work in the U.S. without restriction is required.

What you will do

• Support the development, configuration, testing, maintenance, and operation of SCADA systems at a battery manufacturing Gigafactory.
• Develop and maintain standardized SCADA screens, reusable templates, UDTs, and HMI components for battery manufacturing processes.
• Integrate Ignition SCADA with PLCs, field devices, databases, manufacturing systems, and third-party platforms.
• Collaborate with Controls, MES, IT, and Process Engineering teams to align system functionality with manufacturing requirements.
• Support commissioning, installation, integration, testing, validation, startup, and troubleshooting of SCADA hardware and software.
• Prepare SCADA specifications, architecture documentation, SOPs, and root-cause analysis reports while supporting IT/OT cybersecurity compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of experience with SCADA design, programming, and commissioning using Ignition or related systems.
• Knowledge of Ignition tags, alarm pipelines, gateway and edge line servers, transaction groups, recipe management, UDTs, templates, and data historization.
• Basic Python scripting, networking, PLC and SCADA integration, electrical hardware, sequence control, and software design knowledge.
• Basic knowledge of Modbus, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, MQTT, OPC UA, PostgreSQL, and SQL.
• Working-level English proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking, and unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Agile project management knowledge and successful completion of Inductive University.
• Experience programming, installing, and troubleshooting Mitsubishi or Omron PLC systems.
• Ignition Core certification.
