Controller (Bioindustrial Manufacturing)

Location: Hybrid; one role open in either the Emeryville, California or Minneapolis, Minnesota office

Salary: $175,000–$200,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead core accounting functions, including the general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, revenue, grant accounting, compliance, and financial reporting.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, account analyses, and supporting schedules.
• Prepare and review financial statements and accounting reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Establish and improve accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and financial workflows.
• Oversee grant accounting, restricted funding, federal compliance, audits, tax filings, and related reporting.
• Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff while partnering with finance, FP&A, HR, auditors, and operational leaders.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility in a growing organization.
• Experience supervising general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, revenue, grant accounting, and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, audit support, federal funding, and Uniform Guidance under 2 CFR 200.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
• Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system required.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement from either the Emeryville, CA or Minneapolis, MN office.

Nice to have

• CPA credential or public accounting experience.
• Experience with capital projects, manufacturing organizations, and cost accounting.
