Purchasing Manager (Aerospace)

Location: Simsbury, Connecticut, United States; onsite, full-time

What you will do

• Lead the procurement function for materials, components, and services supporting aerospace manufacturing and operations.
• Develop purchasing strategies, negotiate with suppliers, and establish long-term agreements to support cost, quality, delivery, and supply continuity.
• Manage supplier performance, qualification, risk mitigation, corrective actions, and compliance with aerospace standards.
• Lead, mentor, and develop Buyers and Procurement Specialists while setting departmental goals and KPIs.
• Partner with Material Planning, Production, Engineering, and Quality to maintain material availability and support production schedules.
• Optimize ERP/MRP parameters and drive cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive procurement experience, including at least 3 years in an aerospace or defense leadership role.
• Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing supply chains, supplier qualification, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with contract negotiation, cost reduction, supplier development, and risk management.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, IFS, or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• APICS/CPIM, CPSM, or PMP certification.
