TL;DR
Human Resources Compliance Specialist (Employment Compliance): Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across U.S. offices with an accent on legislative monitoring, policy documentation, audits, and HRIS recordkeeping. Focus on interpreting regulatory changes, maintaining multi-state handbooks, supporting agency inquiries, and building compliance tracking tools and dashboards.
Location: Dallas-North, Plano, or another office; 4:1 in-office schedule

What you will do
- Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local employment laws across all U.S. jurisdictions where the Firm operates.
- Assess legislative changes and update policies, employee and attorney handbooks, procedures, and state-specific addenda.
- Oversee I-9 and E-Verify compliance, internal audits, workplace postings, recordkeeping, and retention practices in Workday or other HRIS systems.
- Support government audits, unemployment claims, EEOC charges, agency inquiries, and compliance investigations.
- Partner with HR, payroll, benefits, HRIS, and department leaders to ensure consistent policy application and regulatory alignment.
- Develop compliance training, tracking tools, dashboards, corrective actions, and annual reports such as EEO-1 and applicable pay data reports.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of progressive HR experience with a strong emphasis on compliance.
- Experience with a multi-state employer and in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Working knowledge of FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, ADEA, USERRA, wage and hour laws, leave laws, pay transparency, and related state requirements.
- Experience managing handbook updates, jurisdictional addenda, audits, agency responses, and compliance investigations.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems, preferably Workday, and electronic recordkeeping requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field required; a Juris Doctor degree with relevant experience may also be considered.
