TL;DR
Technical Trainer (Data Centers): Delivering classroom, virtual, and hands-on training for Critical Operators supporting a multi-phase data center campus with an accent on electrical, mechanical, controls, monitoring, and safety systems. Focus on building operational readiness from foundational concepts, assessing safe system operation, and developing precise training content with instructional designers and engineering stakeholders.

Location: Santa Teresa, New Mexico, United States; full-time onsite work in active construction and commissioning environments. Travel up to 30% domestically for training delivery and site support.

Salary: $109,000–$121,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Deliver instructor-led, virtual, and hands-on technical training for Critical Operators using internal and third-party learning content.
  • Demonstrate and simulate electrical, mechanical, controls, monitoring, and safety systems used in mission-critical environments.
  • Partner with instructional designers and operational stakeholders to develop, update, and continuously improve ILT and eLearning curricula.
  • Participate in equipment walkdowns and gather information from Operations, Engineering, Controls, and Commissioning teams to align training with current systems and procedures.
  • Assess skill attainment, training effectiveness, and operational readiness while maintaining certifications, compliance documentation, and LMS records.
  • Mentor technicians during the transition from training into active operations and support onboarding and upskilling programs.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical education, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience delivering technical training or managing structured learning programs in mission-critical, industrial, or technical environments.
  • Required experience in Critical Operations, Commissioning, Controls, data centers, or other mission-critical environments.
  • Hands-on experience with UPS systems, generators, switchgear, power distribution, HVAC equipment, and related electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to write and train on SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs and interpret one-lines, Sequences of Operation, equipment submittals, and commissioning scripts.

Nice to have

  • Previous experience as a Facility Manager, Chief Engineer, or Critical Operations Manager.
  • Experience using LMS platforms.
