Liability Claims Manager

Location: Bloomington, Illinois, United States; hybrid work arrangement

Salary: $114,000–$156,750 base pay per year, plus eligibility for a Short-Term Incentive plan.

What you will do

• Oversee the full lifecycle of liability claims from initial notice through resolution, ensuring compliance with policies, laws, and company standards.
• Lead, mentor, and develop claims professionals through performance management, succession planning, and career development.
• Set and enforce claims policies, manage reserves, and ensure efficient, accurate, and good-faith claims handling.
• Monitor claims metrics and improve efficiency, quality, consistency, and adherence to service expectations.
• Provide guidance on the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of complex, high-exposure liability claims.
• Partner with Claims leadership and business stakeholders, maintain disaster recovery activities, and support operational continuity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in risk management, legal studies, insurance, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of claims experience, including 2 years of leadership experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
• Deep knowledge of insurance policies, coverage analysis, and litigation processes.
• Ability to analyze complex data and translate insights into actionable business recommendations.

Nice to have

• Experience leading change, managing priorities, and achieving operational goals.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, Tableau, and Guidewire ClaimCenter.
