Senior Consultant, Claims Casualty - E&S/Specialty (Traditional Environmental Property Damage and Bodily Injury)

Location: Remote within any of the lower 48 U.S. states

Salary: $122,000–$214,000 annually; expected starting range: $122,000–$182,000

What you will do

• Investigate, evaluate, manage, and resolve the most serious and complex E&S claims from inception through conclusion.
• Handle high-severity environmental losses involving legacy policies, contamination, pollution, latent injuries, and mass toxic tort exposures.
• Develop litigation strategies with defense counsel and monitor lawsuits, legal trends, and venue-specific decisions.
• Set and manage reserves, including recommending special reserves for significant exposures.
• Advise E&S Claims leaders, agents, brokers, product developers, and internal business partners on coverage, risk, and claim resolution strategies.
• Support specialty product development, standardized claims processes, training, and potentially the management of up to three associates.

Requirements

• Ten years of prior insurance experience preferred, including complex coverage issues and litigated claims.
• Deep expertise in environmental liability, traditional environmental claims, legacy policies, long-tail liability, and allocation methodologies.
• Advanced knowledge of insurance contracts, coverage issues, policy exclusions and exceptions, extra-contractual liability, and litigation management.
• Ability to coordinate defense counsel handling serious and complex liability and damage cases through trial.
• Undergraduate education in insurance, business, management, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Required federal and/or state licenses and registrations must be obtained within the designated period.

Nice to have

• Insurance coursework or designations such as IIA, AEI, or CPCU.
• Experience in a specific specialty line of business.
• Experience leading training, product development, or claims process implementation.
