TL;DR
Benefits and Vendor Advisor, Ancillary Programs (Benefits Administration): Administering ancillary benefit programs and unemployment insurance processes with an accent on vendor management, compliance, reporting, and plan administration. Focus on analyzing utilization and claims data, leading plan and vendor implementations, resolving operational issues, and identifying process improvements and cost savings.

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, with a hybrid schedule and on-campus presence at least once a month and as required for larger meetings. Remote work must be performed in one of Harvard's registered states: California, Connecticut, Georgia, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Illinois, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Virginia, Vermont, or Washington.

What you will do

  • Administer and review ancillary benefit programs and the Unemployment Insurance process.
  • Manage vendor relationships, service meetings, issue logs, invoices, claims processes, and resolution follow-up.
  • Lead implementations and changes to benefit plans and vendors.
  • Develop reporting for Finance, respond to data requests, and analyze utilization, claims, and customer service trends.
  • Conduct benefits audits, support union negotiations, and recommend plan improvements and cost savings.
  • Collaborate with Benefits, Customer Service, Operations, Finance, HR, Faculty Affairs, and vendor teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least five years of relevant benefits experience.
  • Strong analytical, numeric, communication, interpersonal, and project or program management skills.
  • Current working knowledge of ERISA and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality and attention to detail.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available; remote work is limited to Harvard-registered states.

Nice to have

  • PeopleSoft and ServiceNow Case experience.
  • Experience with vendor management, benefits audits, RFPs, and plan implementations.
