Optimization Engineer I (Renewable Energy)

Location: Hybrid with regular in-office presence in San Diego, California or Bend, Oregon, United States

Salary: $89,118–$106,942 per year

What you will do

• Support engineering and procurement teams through in-house software solutions, including the Propt tool.
• Create pile matrices for purchase orders and follow standardized workflows for pile procurement and project execution.
• Test engineering tools, report findings, gather project-team feedback, and support tool rollouts and training.
• Assist with automation, reporting tools, and integration of construction automation requirements into engineering standards and designs.
• Support value engineering across civil, structural, and electrical disciplines by identifying cost-saving and constructability improvements.
• Coordinate with engineering, preconstruction, procurement, software development, and Lean Innovation & Technology teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• 1–3 years of engineering, EPC, construction, or renewable energy experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, GIS, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Basic understanding of utility-scale solar project design and execution, with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage assigned tasks, communicate progress effectively, adapt to a fast-paced EPC environment, and maintain attention to detail.
• U.S. work authorization without current or future employer sponsorship is required.

Nice to have

• Engineer-in-Training (F.E.) qualification.
• Familiarity with photovoltaic foundation and racking systems.
• Exposure to engineering coordination, procurement workflows, project execution, databases, or workflow automation platforms.
