Senior Civil Engineer (Renewable Energy)

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia, USA; willingness to work from the headquarters is required, while remote work may be considered for the right fit. Travel to project sites across the United States is required, up to 25%.

What you will do

• Lead civil engineering, surveying, geotechnical investigations, and foundation design for wind and solar assets.
• Evaluate siting constraints, wind turbine technologies, balance-of-plant requirements, and wind resource data to optimize project layouts.
• Manage detailed design and layout processes throughout project development, including micro-siting and transportation planning.
• Coordinate spatial, environmental, cultural, permitting, and electrical infrastructure considerations with project developers and managers.
• Manage relationships with third-party engineering firms, equipment vendors, contractors, and wind turbine manufacturers.
• Conduct site visits, due diligence studies, community and landowner meetings, construction meetings, commissioning activities, and field quality evaluations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in civil engineering or a related physical science; a master’s degree and/or Professional Engineer license is preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience supporting engineering, design, or construction of renewable energy projects.
• Experience designing roads, foundations, and grading plans, as well as managing consulting engineering firms.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Google Earth, Excel, GIS software, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, writing, collaboration, interpersonal, management, and prioritization skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 25% to project sites across the United States.
