Senior CAD Designer (Renewable Energy)

Location: United States; remote or flexible work location with potential in-person office locations. Up to 10% travel to project locations and partner offices may be required.

Salary: $83,000–$99,450/year, plus annual bonus.

What you will do

• Produce preliminary AutoCAD site plans, layouts, and design packages with Development Engineers and Engineering Managers.
• Design and draft solar PV and battery energy storage system project layouts.
• Integrate and analyze field survey data with support from subject matter experts.
• Generate drawings according to company standards and templates, following quality control and code compliance procedures.
• Generate bills of materials from CAD drawings and provide civil and electrical construction details for PV and BESS projects.
• Communicate proactively and deliver work independently or collaboratively against established deadlines.

Requirements

• 2-year AAS degree in Computer Aided Design and Drafting or equivalent.
• 5+ years of drafting or design experience in the solar PV or renewable energy industry.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and shapefiles.
• Familiarity with solar PV designs, site designs, and layout considerations.
• Basic understanding of electrical plans, diagrams, and terminology.
• Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with civil and grading design.
• High-voltage or substation experience.
• Knowledge of Eastern US civil constraints, including wetlands, floodplains, and karst topography.
