Manager, Environmental Health & Safety (Manufacturing)

Location: Full-time, onsite position based in Gallatin, Tennessee, United States. Up to 25% domestic travel may be required. Relocation assistance is not available.

Salary: $110,000–$135,000 per year, plus eligibility for applicable bonuses and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the site EHS strategy, management systems, policies, compliance programs, and performance standards for a new manufacturing operation.
• Partner with plant leadership to integrate safety, environmental stewardship, sustainability, and risk management into production, maintenance, capital projects, and operations.
• Build an employee-driven safety culture through coaching, hazard reporting, observation programs, recognition initiatives, learning teams, and continuous improvement.
• Lead EHS personnel, develop future EHS and operational leaders, and strengthen accountability and ownership across the organization.
• Oversee incident, near-miss, environmental release, and high-potential event investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Monitor leading and lagging indicators, conduct audits and field verifications, and maintain emergency response, fire protection, crisis management, and business continuity programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety, occupational safety, environmental science, engineering, industrial hygiene, or a related field.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification required.
• Successful experience leading EHS programs in complex manufacturing environments and transforming EHS culture and management systems.
• Expert knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT, Tennessee environmental regulations, and applicable consensus standards.
• Strong knowledge of risk assessment, machine safeguarding, energy control (LOTO), contractor safety, industrial hygiene, emergency preparedness, fire protection, ergonomics, and environmental compliance.
• Ability to influence and coach operational leaders, analyze EHS data, lead investigations, manage change, and connect EHS performance with business outcomes.

Nice to have

• CIH, CHMM, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent advanced certification.
• Experience with startup, expansion, greenfield, brownfield, or major capital projects.
• Experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, environmental permitting, and sustainability initiatives.
