Senior Metallurgist – Premium Melting (VIM, ESR, VAR)

Location: Reading, Pennsylvania, United States; onsite full-time role

What you will do

• Provide technical support across VIM, ESR, and VAR melt shop operations.
• Review melt records, verify procedure adherence, and ensure melt quality and compliance with customer agreements.
• Disposition non-conforming and off-standard material and resolve customer technical issues related to melting.
• Develop procedures, optimize processes, define critical process variables and tests, and reduce process variation.
• Improve yield, productivity, safety, and cost performance in melt operations.
• Collaborate with operations, technical, R&D, purchasing, and quality personnel, including support during customer audits.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of relevant professional experience.
• Knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods, practices, and production equipment.
• Experience applying statistics, Six Sigma, and BPI practices.
• Ability to lead or support projects, anticipate and mitigate risks, and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to access mill and manufacturing areas, travel on a limited basis, and collaborate with production operators on the shop floor.
