Control Mechanic (HVAC)

Location: On site at Harvard or a Harvard-designated location; Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Salary: $52.34 per hour

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Critical Operations Personnel must provide on-site support during emergencies.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot, service, and repair pneumatic, electric, electronic, and DDC HVAC control systems.
• Install, modify, and repair boilers, heating and cooling systems, and auxiliary equipment.
• Fabricate and install high- and low-pressure piping and ducting systems.
• Interpret mechanical plans, specifications, operating manuals, and related documentation.
• Provide customer support and advise on building maintenance solutions, including follow-up on work status.
• Work independently or as part of a multi-trade team and provide emergency on-site support when required.

Requirements

• Five years of experience installing, operating, maintaining, and repairing HVAC control systems.
• At least two years of experience operating, troubleshooting, and repairing Siemens DDC control systems.
• Strong knowledge of airflow and indoor air quality issues; DDC control system training and experience.
• Current Refrigeration Technician or acceptable Massachusetts state trade license and a valid driver's license.
• Ability to work in research laboratory environments and around hazardous materials; lift up to 50 pounds and handle heavier equipment with assistance.
• Harvard cannot provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Nice to have

• CFC Refrigeration Transition and Recovery Certificate.
• Experience with DDC diagnostic equipment and Windows-based applications.
• Proficient keyboard skills and strong communication with peers and customers.
