Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Ventura, California, United States; 100% onsite. Full-time schedule of at least 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with core hours from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Salary: $150,000–$170,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for autonomous underwater vehicles, including enclosures, mounting structures, sensor integration, cabling, electronics packaging, and customer payloads.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation in accordance with applicable standards.
• Lead mechanical integration with electrical, software, and payload systems.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to deliver producible, cost-effective, and quality-compliant designs.
• Participate in assembly, integration, environmental, and at-sea testing.
• Contribute to technical reports, presentations, configuration management, change control, and engineering reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• 8+ years of professional mechanical engineering design experience on complex hardware/software systems.
• Extensive experience with SolidWorks or a similar CAD tool.
• Knowledge of machining, composite fabrication, or additive manufacturing.
• Experience with DFMA principles, FEA tools, design standards, and clear technical documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentations to technical and customer audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with underwater vehicles, robotics, or maritime and defense systems.
• Active Department of Defense clearance.
