Robotics Engineer (New Grad): Government Projects (Robotics)

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees under the specified U.S. export-control requirements.

Salary: $90,000–$135,000 per year, plus potential equity and bonus.

What you will do

• Learn and operate robotics software for recording, sanding control, point-cloud processing, and inspection.
• Execute structured Design of Experiments trials for adaptive robotic sanding on production systems.
• Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot robotic sanding and inspection cells.
• Collect, organize, and validate force, point-cloud, spindle, and robot-motion data.
• Control experimental variables, verify repeatability, and perform noise-floor validation checks.
• Document results and collaborate with SAEs, Tech Leads, and PIs to improve production processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, or an in-progress or completed Master’s degree, in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline.
• Hands-on experience with physical robotic or mechanical systems through coursework, internships, co-ops, capstone projects, or research; 0–2 years of experience expected.
• Ability to execute structured experiments or processes with strong attention to detail.
• Working familiarity with Python or similar scripting and data-analysis tools.
• Strong written communication, analytical skills, and curiosity about how technical processes work.
• Must satisfy the stated U.S. government export-control eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Design of Experiments or statistical process analysis.
• Coursework or project experience with ROS or ROS2.
• Experience with point-cloud, force, or other 3D sensor data.
• Experience with 6DOF robot arms.
• SolidWorks or similar CAD experience, or hands-on manufacturing and shop experience.
