Traveling Staff Engineer - Geologist/Geotechnical (Geotechnical Engineering)

Location: Dallas (Grapevine), United States. Full-time role with expected travel of 60–90% to remote project sites.

Salary: $50,000–$74,000 per year. Sign-on bonus: $3,000.

What you will do

• Conduct geological and geotechnical field investigations, including mapping, sampling, soil logging, and field observations.
• Perform field testing such as pile load testing and electrical resistivity testing at remote project sites.
• Analyze rock, soil, groundwater, and geophysical data and prepare technical reports, maps, cross-sections, and boring logs.
• Oversee field personnel, support technician training, review field logs and soil samples, and coordinate observations with engineering project leads.
• Review work quality, investigate project issues, and coordinate staff, resources, and workloads with regional operations.
• Support renewable energy, infrastructure, and mission critical projects while maintaining client communication and expectations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, a related engineering field, or geology.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, customer service, and time-management skills.
• Thorough understanding of pile load testing procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, create and communicate project budgets, and operate in a time-critical environment.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel 60–90%.

Nice to have

• Two or more years of construction materials testing or geotechnical engineering experience.
• Experience with large-scale construction projects.
