Staff Geotechnical Engineer

Location: Centennial, Colorado, USA; full-time, in-office

Salary: USD 70,000–90,000 per year, depending on qualifications

What you will do

• Conduct geotechnical investigations and engineering analyses for commercial, residential, industrial, and public works projects.
• Plan subsurface exploration programs, including boring layouts and utility clearance activities.
• Oversee drilling operations and direct drill crews and subcontractors in the field.
• Classify soils and geologic materials; prepare boring, test pit, and core logs.
• Coordinate laboratory testing, evaluate field and laboratory data, and perform site observations and construction support.
• Prepare geotechnical reports, technical memoranda, letters, and engineering recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Geological Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of geotechnical engineering experience; consulting experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, geotechnical principles, and subsurface investigation methods.
• Experience with field exploration, soil classification, technical calculations, geotechnical analyses, and report preparation.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience with software for slope stability, settlement, liquefaction, and foundation analyses.
• Engineer-in-Training certification or progress toward professional licensure.
• Familiarity with Colorado geologic and geotechnical conditions.
