Engineering Geologist

Location: Renton, Washington, with travel to local and nationwide field and job sites across the United States.

Expected salary range: $44–$62 USD per hour

What you will do

• Perform field explorations, geologic reconnaissance, mapping, and sample collection.
• Prepare field reports, geological subsurface logs, profiles, and design cross-sections.
• Organize laboratory data and conduct or review limited soil index property testing.
• Interpret soil and rock sample data and prepare geological and design reports.
• Travel by car or air to support local and nationwide project and job-site needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Geology or Engineering Geology.
• At least two years of experience as a geologist, including soil sampling under USCS standards and laboratory testing.
• Experience with geologic interpretation and soil classification using exploration samples.
• Have taken or be preparing to take the Professional Geologist exam.
• Ability to work independently, travel as needed, and perform physical work including lifting and carrying more than 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license, insurable driving record, and basic proficiency with MS Word and Excel.

Nice to have

• Experience applying geology to geotechnical engineering practice.
• Rock mechanics experience.
• Experience with RSLog or similar geotechnical borehole logging software.
• Experience with MS Access.
