TL;DR
Project Safety Manager (Construction): Leading safety practices across commercial construction projects with an accent on regulatory compliance, hazard control, site audits, and contractor coaching. Focus on investigating incidents, analyzing safety trends, implementing corrective actions, and sustaining safe work environments across active job sites.

Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States. The role is based out of the Grand Rapids office and primarily performed at active construction sites and office trailers.

What you will do

  • Lead and strengthen a proactive safety culture throughout commercial construction projects.
  • Advise, mentor, and coach project teams, trade contractors, and stakeholders on safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Identify, evaluate, and control hazards during pre-construction planning and active job-site operations.
  • Conduct site audits, monitor safety performance, implement corrective actions, and investigate incidents.
  • Track and analyze safety data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support company-wide safety initiatives, tools, technologies, and professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of commercial construction safety experience.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state safety regulations, hazard mitigation, and safety performance analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence project teams and contractors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States. The position requires successful pre-employment drug and background screening.

Nice to have

  • Experience with OCIP or CCIP projects.
  • CSP or CIH certification, or the ability to obtain one.
