Senior Construction Engineer, Energy Storage (Remote)

Location: Remote within the United States; the role is listed as Remote - CA. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future. Travel and field-work support may be required.

Salary: $90,924–$113,655 per year.

What you will do

• Provide senior-level technical oversight and subject-matter expertise for BESS engineering scopes across EPC projects.
• Coordinate Engineers of Record, vendors, consultants, fire protection engineers, AHJs, owners, commissioning teams, and internal project stakeholders.
• Review BESS drawings, specifications, system architecture, single-line diagrams, control narratives, vendor packages, commissioning documents, and fire protection deliverables.
• Support construction, testing, commissioning, energization, initial operations, RFIs, field issue resolution, and design revisions.
• Participate in warranty investigations, root-cause evaluations, corrective actions, and resolution of equipment, installation, integration, and performance issues.
• Develop BESS standards, review workflows, trackers, comment logs, and best-practice documents while mentoring construction engineering staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• 3–5+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, BESS engineering, EPC, utility-scale renewable energy, power systems, or energy storage.
• Strong understanding of BESS design and integration, battery systems, inverters, BMS, EMS, controls, grid interconnection equipment, commissioning interfaces, and project execution requirements.
• Experience coordinating complex engineering issues and reviewing drawings, specifications, vendor documentation, commissioning documentation, and fire protection-related deliverables.
• Working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IBC, ASCE, NFPA 855, UL 9540, UL 9540A, utility requirements, and project-specific standards.
• Strong analytical, written, verbal communication, coordination, and technical leadership skills; Microsoft Office proficiency required.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, document control systems, and BESS or power system analysis tools.
