TL;DR
Manufacturing Process Engineer III (Lean Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering): Designing and implementing jigs, tooling, fixtures, work instructions, and process improvements for packaged modular manufacturing with an accent on manufacturability, quality, productivity, and material flow. Focus on analyzing production data, leading Lean initiatives, optimizing work-cell layouts, and coordinating cross-functional improvements across engineering, production, quality, and estimating.

Location: Houston, TX (TAS-AIRPORT); full-time onsite work in a manufacturing facility

What you will do

  • Design, build, and implement jigs, tooling, fixtures, gauges, equipment, and other production assets.
  • Analyze production data to improve productivity, quality, safety, material flow, and cost.
  • Implement Lean methods including standardized work instructions, value stream mapping, Kaizen, and 5S.
  • Conduct time studies and audits, maintain cost models, and document cost savings and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, design engineering, estimating, vendors, and cross-functional teams to improve manufacturability and eliminate non-value-added activities.
  • Plan facility and work-cell layout changes and provide shop-floor feedback to update product designs and drawings.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or another engineering discipline.
  • At least 10 years of experience as an Industrial, Manufacturing, Process, Continuous Improvement, or related Engineer in a heavy or industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with fabrication, welding, assembly, fixtures, and jigs in a make-to-order or engineer-to-order environment.
  • Experience implementing Lean processes and improvement initiatives, including standardized work instructions and 5S.
  • High proficiency in blueprint reading and P&ID interpretation.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Project.

Nice to have

  • Lean or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
