Director, Operations (Data Centers)

Location: IAD-01, Ashburn, Virginia, United States

Salary: $175,000–$185,000 annually, plus annual bonus and additional incentives.

What you will do

• Lead campus operations across multiple 24/7 data center facilities, covering critical facilities, infrastructure, security, safety, logistics, service delivery, and commissioning.
• Oversee electrical and mechanical systems, including UPS systems, generators, fire suppression, building management systems, and HVAC, while meeting uptime and SLA targets.
• Manage operational metrics, budgeting, forecasting, capacity, availability, inventory, incident management, problem management, and change management.
• Lead, coach, and develop data center operations management teams and coordinate cross-functional improvement projects.
• Manage vendors, contracts, strategic supply-chain relationships, service delivery, and cost optimization.
• Maintain customer relationships, service orders, remote-hands requests, operational documentation, compliance audits, safety procedures, and emergency response.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred with 10 years of experience, or 12–15 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
• In-depth knowledge of applicable rules, laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances for data, communications, building, and MEP projects.
• Experience developing operational standards, project tracking documents, operating budgets, capital budgets, RFP processes, and cost estimates.
• Ability to analyze complex documents and instructions, solve problems with limited information, work independently, and respond effectively to sensitive issues.
• Strong presentation, communication, organizational, customer service, and leadership skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint; occasional travel is required for training and meetings.
