Principal Electrical Engineer (Data Centers)

Location: Remote - US, with a flexible hybrid policy requiring 3 days in-office and 2 flexible days; travel up to 25% may be required.

Salary: $185,000–$195,000 base annually plus bonus, with the range based on Colorado market data and varying by location.

What you will do

• Lead electrical design reviews and develop engineering standards for new data center deployments.
• Participate in project execution from conceptual design and basis of design through construction documents and commissioning.
• Provide project leadership for electrical design consultants and contractors, managing complex projects, milestones, budgets, and corporate standards.
• Evaluate electrical systems, customer requirements, CAPEX/OPEX trade-offs, innovation opportunities, and site application requirements.
• Review technical drawings, submittals, operating sequences, commissioning scripts, and engineering studies.
• Support Site Operations with troubleshooting, system tuning, renovations, remediation, and performance optimization.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineering license in any US state required.
• At least 10 years of design and construction experience required; 15+ years preferred.
• Data center design or construction experience and knowledge of North American construction markets required.
• Knowledge of MV and LV equipment, UPSes, generators, transfer switches, electrical distribution topologies, redundancy, cooling infrastructure, and data center standards.
• Familiarity with NEC, NERC, IEEE, NFPA, local building codes, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, Navisworks, and SCCS modeling environments.
