Principal Electrical Engineer, NA (Data Center)

Location: Remote - US; flexible work policy with 3 days in-office and 2 days flexible. Travel up to 25% is required and may increase over time.

Salary: $185,000–$195,000 base plus bonus annually; the range is based on Colorado market data and may vary by location.

What you will do

• Lead electrical design and engineering for new data center deployments from conceptual design and basis of design through construction documents, commissioning, and operations hand-off.
• Develop and implement electrical engineering processes, equipment standards, and corporate design solutions while balancing customer requirements, CAPEX, OPEX, innovation, and site conditions.
• Manage large and complex projects, design reviews, consultants, and contractors with limited supervision, ensuring milestones, budgets, standards, and specifications are met.
• Review technical drawings, submittals, sequences of operations, commissioning scripts, and engineering studies.
• Support Site Operations with troubleshooting, tuning, renovations, remediation, and live-facility improvement projects.
• Collaborate with construction, operations, sales, procurement, site development, leadership, and cross-functional engineering teams, including technical support for site tours, RFPs, and build-to-suit solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree from an accredited university or college.
• Professional Engineering license in any U.S. state.
• At least 10 years of design and construction experience is required; 15+ years is preferred.
• Data center design and/or construction experience and experience with North American construction markets are required.
• Working knowledge of critical electrical and cooling infrastructure within data centers, including MV and LV equipment, UPSes, generators, transfer switches, electrical distribution topologies, redundancy, and emerging technologies.
• Familiarity with NEC, NERC, IEEE, NFPA, and local building codes, regulations, and standards.
• Strong analytical, feasibility-study, technical-analysis, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and understanding of AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, Navisworks, and SCCS modeling environments.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, with integrity, professionalism, and a continuous-improvement mindset.

• 15 or more years of design and construction experience.
